Also present were the Commissioner of the Israeli Prison Services, senior representatives of the Israeli Police, Israeli Firefighting and Rescue Services and Directors of Ministry divisions. In addition, representatives of the Home Front Command, Israeli Emergency Management Authority (NEMA), and the MARAM's establishment projectors: Retired Police General Bertie Ohayon and Retired Commander Danny Haddad, were also on hand.
The Minister of Public Security acknowledged and thanked all the parties involved in the establishment of MARAM and said they worked thoroughly and professionally.
"We're in an uneasy period of time and under a number of threats. Establishing MARAM is essential and will help us to provide real time solutions," said the minister.
"Part of the Carmel disaster conclusions were the need of synchronization between different parties to give us a national viewpont of the situation."
The Minister emphasized the importance of training inthe center during routine situations in order to be well-equipped for emergencies.
The role of the MARAM is to locate and collect real-time data and provide an overall updated picture of the current security situation in order to assist the Minister in formin his public security policy.
The MARAM is managed by the Minister's secretary of Security Advisor unit and logistically operated under the Director General's office. The Director General's office is also responsible for the Strategic Crisis Thinking Team and the logistic planning during emergency situations.
The MARAM also includes high level representatives from different agencies like: The Ministry of Public Security, Israeli Policy, Prison Services, and other government representatives.
A special steering committee was establish to plan and organize the project and was lead by Brigadier General Haim Cohen, with the assistance of Police commander (ret.) Bertie Ohayon (former head of police operations) and Brigadier General Danny Hadad.
The people who operate the MARAM include volunteers that used to fill senior positions at the Israeli Police, Israeli Prison Services or IDF.
These officers have unique capabilities and have undergone special training for operating the fusion center.
